The former Washington Capital and Vancouver Canuck had his most recent contract bought out and hit the open market on Wednesday to a ton of interest. The Stars plan to start Ben Bishop on LTIR so this makes room for adding Holtby in the crease and on the books.
The team has been busy, adding Ryan Suter to their mix as well on the opening day of free agency. As for Holtby, he appeared in 21 games in Vancouver last season and struggled, posting a .3.67 GAA and a .889 save %. Stars are hoping he forgets about his time out west in Canada and finds his game in Big D.
