Dallas Stars Extend Young Forward
The Dallas Stars have signed forward Joel Kiviranta to a two-year, $2.1 million contract. It will carry an average annual value of $1.05 million.
Kiviranta famously made a name for himself during the 2020 postseason when he had a hat trick in Game 7 against the Colorado Avalanche. From there, he has had a permanent spot with this team and followed it up with a solid season.🗣️ KIVIIIIIIIII! He's BACK!

In 26 games this season with the Stars, the 25-year-old winger scored six goals and recorded 11 points. That is pretty respectable scoring from a bottom-six forward, so it makes sense that the Stars have decided to keep him around.
When looking at his cap hit, one could argue that it's a real steal for them. If he continue to produce at this pace in a full 82-game schedule, he could become a key forward for them. With him still being young, there's also even room for further improvement.
