Detroit Red Wings Sign Tyler Bertuzzi To Extension

The Detroit Red Wings have signed Tyler Bertuzzi to a two-year extension. It will have an average annual value of $4.75 million.

Bertuzzi has become of the most important players on the rebuilding Red Wings, so it makes sense that they have decided to re-sign him. He was the subject of trade rumors, but it is for the best that he is remaining in Detroit. He is the type of forward that they should be building around, as he not only produces well offensively, but plays the game with a real edge. This makes him a threat in multiple ways.

The 26-year-old has played 208 career games with the Red Wings and has 54 goals and 126 total points. He was pace for a fantastic season this year, but it was cut short due to injury. In nine games, he scored five goals and recorded seven points. He should be able to produce like that next season if he remains healthy.
