The 26-year-old defenseman was a highly touted undrafted NCAA free agent a few years back and the Devils won the sweepstakes. Last season he recorded 11 points in 23 games and is signed through next season at $3.73 million.
The University of Denver product is a positive possession player and loves to get his shot off. He should help the Sabres fill a hole for a season and could use next season as an audition to sign a long-term extension.
He knows Sabres coach Don Granato very well, as he was a member of the U.S National Team Development Program.
