Done Deal: Edmonton Oilers & Carolina Hurricanes Make a Trade

The Carolina Hurricanes and Edmonton Oilers completed a deal on Wednesday that sees goaltender Dylan Wells head from the Oilers to Carolina. This move was all about finding Wells a good fit for a contract as the Oilers weren't going to extend a qualifying offer.

Wells will now be signed and then exposed by the Hurricanes who don't have any other netminders on their current roster besides super-rookie Alex Nedeljkovic. Smart piece of business by Carolina.

As for Wells, he's a 23-year-old who was selected in the fifth round by the Oilers back in 2016. He's struggled as a professional and has yet to find his game at either the AHL or ECHL level. Carolina is bringing him in for the sole purpose of the expansion draft, and considering some of the talent being lost to the Kraken, you can't blame them.
