Dougie Hamilton Names His Price

The Carolina Hurricanes gave Dougie Hamilton permission weeks ago to talk to other teams to try and facilitate a sign-and-trade out of Carolina. Turns out no team has budged on the asking price and Hamilton remains unsigned. Free agency begins on Wednesday and more information has surfaced regarding the mobile defenseman's asking price.

Hamilton is looking for a hefty raise from his $5.75 million salary from last season after putting up a strong year with 42 points in 55 games. The 28-year-old Toronto native is capable of 50 point seasons and his all around game has taken huge strides in the past couple of seasons.

While the Chicago Blackhawks and Philadelphia Flyers were two teams expected to make runs at Hamilton, it appears both of those teams are now out. The Edmonton Oilers, Winnipeg Jets and Seattle Kraken are all expected to make significant contract offers next week. Don't expect Hamilton to be a free agent much longer as he should have a contract finalized next week.
