Florida Panthers Send Anton Stralman To The Arizona Coyotes
The Arizona Coyotes have acquired defenseman Anton Stralman, prospect Vladislav Kolyachonok and a 2024 second-round pick from the Florida Panthers for a 2023 seventh-round pick.
This trade was purely a salary dump by the Panthers. Stralman is set to make $5.5 million this upcoming season and the Panthers have other key players to re-sign. In 38 games this season, the 34-year-old defenseman had three goals and nine points. With the Coyotes, perhaps he can find his old form. He should have plenty of opportunities there, as they are a rebuilding team and are continuing to trade away more talent.
As for Kolyachonok, he's a 20-year-old defenseman the Panthers took in the second-round of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. With Dinamo Minsk of the KHL last season, he had a goal and six points in 46 games. He also played in 10 AHL games with the Syracuse Crunch and had two assists.
Overall, this is a good trade for both sides. The Panthers have gained some much-needed cap space, and the Coyotes have brought in another prospect and high draft pick. They only have to deal with Stralman's cap hit for just one season.
