Goaltender Frederik Andersen Headed to Market
The Toronto Maple Leafs apparently have interest to bring back Frederik Andersen, but they sure have a weird way of showing it. According to reports, the team did not make an offer to the Danish netminder leading up to free agency.
No offer from the Leafs as of this morning to UFA goalie Frederik Andersen so likely headed to market. I think Carolina and Colorado (if Grubauer doesn't re-sign) make sense as potential options for Andersen but we'll see. @TSNHockey @TheAthletic

Carolina has become the heavy favorite at this point as the team currently has zero goaltenders. Andersen is likely to sign a three-year deal with the team, north of $5 million.
He's coming off a down season where he battled injuries for the first time in a long time. Andersen lost his net to Jack Campbell and could never get it back. He's close with a lot of the Maple Leafs so if they end up sending a last second offer, perhaps he would change his mind.
The Leafs are cash strapped and will need the goaltender to take a pay cut. From all accounts it doesn't sound like he's interested in doing so. Fun fact - Andersen was once drafted by the Carolina Hurricanes and never signed. Could be coming full circle for him today.
