Maple Leafs Have Options in Net if Frederik Andersen Leaves the Team

The Toronto Maple Leafs have interest bringing back goaltender Frederik Andersen, the only issue is going to come down to the money available to do so. Recently reports surfaced Andersen was looking for a raise, meanwhile the Leafs would prefer he took a huge pay cut. If an extension can't be worked out, look for Toronto to look elsewhere, and they have some decent options on the free agent market.

3 Goalies The Maple Leafs Could Have Interest In

David Rittich: The netminder made his way to Toronto via trade with the Calgary Flames and while he wasn't horrible, he wasn't great. The audition didn't go as planned and Rittich is now seen as a possible fall back option. Last season the 28-year-old posted a 2.71 GAA and a .888 SV% in four games with the Maple Leafs and the jury isn't out yet on how management feels about Rittich's game.

Brian Elliott: The veteran netminder is from the area and could head home for the back-nine of his career. He'd bring experience from Philly to Toronto as the 36-year-old would provide some mentorship to newfound starter Jack Campbell. In 2019-20 Elliott posted a 2.15 GAA and .911 SV% in three postseason games and the Leafs would be hoping he's able to find his game in blue and white.

James Reimer: Leafs Nation would freak out over this signing and do nothing but remind people of the collapse in Boston. Reimer could sign cheap in Toronto and give the Leafs a one-two punch that is the least expensive goalie tandem in the league. When you have the contracts they have for some of their stars, you need to find value on the open market. Reimer can play, recording a 15-5-0 record last season with a 2.66 GAA and a .906 SV%. Just don't bring up the Bruins.
