Maple Leafs Losing 1 of 3 Players to Seattle Kraken
The Toronto Maple Leafs are waiting patiently as the Seattle Kraken expansion draft goes later tonight, and it appears they have a good idea of how things are going to shape up. Word is the Leafs are expecting to lose 1 of 3 players to the Kraken.
Alexander Kerfoot: Regardless of the leaked video from yesterday, Kerfoot made the most sense for the Kraken because he's still young, signed for two seasons, and can play in all situations. Add in the fact he can play both the wing and center and is from just north of Seattle, it all makes sense with this pick.
Travis Dermott: If the Kraken want a cheap mobile defenseman with two years on his deal at $1.5 million per, Dermott is their man. He has some playoff experience and at 24, is still coming into his own. The Newmarket, Ontario native has the potential to one day be a solid #4 defenseman.
Jared McCann: The Leafs knew they were losing Kerfoot so instead of allowing the Kraken to also swipe up McCann from Pittsburgh, they stepped in and dealt a mid-level prospect and a seventh-round pick last weekend. McCann is younger than Kerfoot and less expensive but only signed for one season. There is a chance Seattle goes off the board and takes McCann instead. It will be fun to watch Wednesday at 8pm ET.

Things Leafs fans didn’t show you: ESPN also rehearsed #SeaKraken taking Jared McCann (presumably among a few other candidates) and not just Alex Kerfoot. #LeafsForever
