Maple Leafs Sign Travis Dermott to Multi-Year Extension

The Toronto Maple Leafs have begun taking care of business this offseason as the team announced they have re-signed defenseman Travis Dermott to a two-year contract worth $1.5 million per season.

The young defenseman took less money on his last deal, and was rewarded by the team this time around with almost double the salary and an extra year of security. Speaking of security, this move also helps the team because now they can expose Dermott to the Seattle Kraken later this month.

Last season the 24-year-old played mostly on the team's bottom pair with Zach Bogosian and appeared in 51 games, recording six points. He was scratched a few times in Stanley Cup Playoffs as the team gave Rasmus Sandin a look. Kind of crazy to think six points gets you $1.5 million dollars.....

Expect some more moves from the Leafs general manager Kyle Dubas as he continues to talk contract with the likes of Bogosian, Zach Hyman and Frederik Andersen.
