Minnesota Wild Bring In Another Defenseman
The Minnesota Wild have signed defenseman Jon Merrill to a one-year, $850,000 contract.
✍️ Another one!
Merrill is a defenseman who is not flashy, but will simply get the job done. He will likely be joining the Wild's bottom-pair and should get some time on their penalty kill, too. He never has been an offensive juggernaut, but not every player on your blueline needs to be.

In 49 games this season between the Detroit Red Wings and Montreal Canadiens, the veteran defenseman had five assists. He also suited up 13 playoff games for the Canadiens, but did not register any points. In 405 career regular season games, he has 12 goals and 66 points.
Overall, adding Merrill for depth at that price is not a bad thing at all.
