Minnesota Wild GM Refutes Report Over Kirill Kaprizov Contract Talks
Minnesota Wild general manager Bill Guerin wants everyone to back off and let him do his job. The Wild executive recently came out to tell reporters enough with saying contract talks have stalled with super-rookie Kirill Kaprizov, that's just not the case.
Guerin spoke to the NHL.com's Jessie Pierce and had this to say about the matter:
We've never cut off (contract) talks. It's not like we're talking every day, but there's nothing that's been cut off or dried up or anything like that. It's just an ongoing process. Sometimes it takes three days. Sometimes it takes three months. ... But we have plans to talk next week. It has not gone cold, contrary to what some people have reported. We have plans to really get going.
Kaprizov is a pending restricted free-agent and is not eligible for an offer sheet because he's only played one season in the NHL, despite being 24-years-old. Look for the Wild to get this contract done, and make some other big moves as the team has multiple first-round picks and $16 million in cap space to work with.
