Montreal Canadiens Sign 3 Free Agents

The Montreal Canadiens are expected to sign free agents David Savard, Cedric Paquette and Chris Wideman once the ball drops at Noon on Wednesday.

Savard gives them a reasonable replacement for Shea Weber and adds a nemesis to their lineup as Savard was a part of the Tampa Bay Lightning's Cup winning team who eliminated the Canadiens this postseason. Word is it's a four year term for the right-handed defenseman around $4 million per season.

Paquette heads home to Quebec. He's a viable option to replace Phillip Danault and loves to get in on the forecheck and take the body. It's likely he starts at center in Montreal but could end up on the wing. No terms of the term were disclosed at the time of this article.

Wideman is an offensive master on the power play and spent last season ripping up the KHL. Assistant coach Luke Richardson knows Wideman very well from their days in Ottawa together.

Next up Corey Perry and Ryan Getzlaf?
