Montreal Canadiens Sign Depth Forward to Extension
The Montreal Canadiens have announced the team has re-signed forward Alex Belzile to a one-year contract extension. The purpose of this deal was to add him to the unprotected list of Habs players.

Belzile is a 29-year-old undrafted journeyman who only appeared in two games for the Canadiens last season, recording one assist. He then went on to put up 14 points in 17 AHL games for the affiliate Laval Rocket. Two seasons ago, he was lucky enough to dress in six playoff games in the bubble, chipping in with one assist.
While this isn't Marc Bergevin's biggest move, it's certainly an under the radar type as Montreal is dealing with some big news that dropped on Wednesday evening. From all accounts it looks like Shea Weber's career could be over. More on that story here.
