Nashville Predators Sign Veteran Netminder
The Nashville Predators are moving on from the Pekka Rinne era in their crease and are reportedly bringing in netminder David Rittich.
The 28-year-old split last season between the Calgary Flames and Toronto Maple Leafs, never really finding his place with the latter. He made $2.75 million last season and is likely signing around the same number on his next contract. At this point the details of the contract are slim.
The Czech native has shown all-star form in the past and his best season came back in 2018-19 when he posted a 2.61 GAA and a .911 save % in 45 games. His numbers have declined slightly since and the Preds are hopeful with more opportunity he can once again find his game.
Rittich was one of the younger goalies on the market and drew interest from several teams. The Preds appear to be his best opportunity and considering they have almost $30 million in cap space, there's tons of room on the books for the netminder.
