Nashville Predators Talking Trade with the Seattle Kraken

Nashville Predators general manager David Poile has already begun making changes to his roster for next season as the team moved out veteran winger Viktor Arvidsson to the Los Angeles Kings. The return of two draft picks suggests the Preds are either re-tooling or re-building entirely, which pissed off some of the Predator veterans including Filip Forsberg. Turns out more moves are on the way as the team has been active in trade discussions, including with the Seattle Kraken.

Poile was recently on an episode of the Darren, Daunic and Chase podcast and admitted he's contacted the Kraken about sweetening the pot for their selection:

I’ve had a couple of conversations with them [Seattle Kraken]. Ideally, if we could strike a deal so there’s certainty as to who we would lose, I would probably do that

The Predators are trying to do whatever they can to create some salary cap flexibility as the team is in the market for a new starting goaltender and have some forwards who are underperforming on big tickets.

One name that's been rumored to be the ideal candidate for the Kraken to take off the Predators' hands is center Matt Duchene. The 30-year-old has five years remaining on his contract, paying him $8 million. Considering he only recorded 13 points in 34 games last season, you can't blame the Poile for begging other teams to take Duchene off their hands.
