Oilers Connor McDavid Calls Out NHL Officiating

Edmonton Oilers superstar and the NHL's hart trophy winner Connor McDavid is calling for some change next season and it involves seeing more consistency from the officiating across the NHL.

McDavid spoke to the media recently and opened up about his feelings towards the whistles:

The refs have such a tough job to do. The game is so quick and things happen so fast. ... However, I do wish there was maybe a little more consistency. That's what we're looking for as players. The other sports have been able to do that from the regular season to the playoffs

There's been a huge spotlight on the refs these Stanley Cup Playoffs and while it hasn't all been bad, when it's been bad it's been horrible. Commissioner Gary Bettman has made a point this postseason to tell the world how good the officials are, and how they are the best of any sport in the world. Some would argue that's not the case at all.

As for McDavid, he's bitter because he didn't draw one penalty during the first round against the Winnipeg Jets. And if you go back to the bubble against the Chicago Blackhawks in 2020, McDavid didn't draw one penalty during the Oilers qualifying-round loss. Seems like there's a method to the madness here.
