Pat Maroon is a Back-To-Back-To-Back Stanley Cup Champion

Pat Maroon officially won his third Stanley Cup in three seasons last night. This is quite the accomplishment, especially for a player who is known as a bottom-six forward. The one-man dynasty started when Maroon won the Stanley Cup with his hometown St. Louis Blues back in 2019. He of course would then win last year during his first season with the Lightning, too.

Maroon was an important piece of the Lightning all season. In 55 games, the veteran winger scored four goals and recorded 18 points. That is solid production from a fourth-line forward. In the postseason, he played in 23 games, while scoring two goals and registering four points. Although those numbers aren't jaw-dropping, his significance to the team came from his raw physicality. He made his line very difficult to play against because of this.

It is simply remarkable that Maroon has been able to win three Stanley Cups in a row. It puts him in the company of a handful of NHL legends, such as Red Kelly and Tim Horton. Furthermore, there are other Hall of Famers who never had the honor of winning a single Stanley Cup. Some of these players who come to mind are Pavel Bure, Marcel Dionne and Paul Kariya. Current NHLers Joe Thornton and Patrick Marleau may never experience it, either.

Given the fact that the Lightning are such a stacked team, there is a distinct possibility that Maroon could end up winning a fourth next season. Due to their lack of cap room, they are on the verge of losing Blake Coleman and Barclay Goodrow to free agency. Yet, there is still a lot of hope when looking at their core.
