Patrik Laine Is Staying With The Columbus Blue Jackets
Patrik Laine has accepted his qualifying offer from the Columbus Blue Jackets. He will be making $7.5 million next season.
After being traded from the Winnipeg Jets to the Blue Jackets, Laine noticeably struggled. In 45 games with the team, he had only 10 goals and 21 points. If he continues to produce at that level, the $7.5 million cap will honestly be a hard one to accept. Yet, they had no choice in the matter.
When Laine is on his game, he can be a top-of-the-line goal scorer. He scored 36 and 44 goals in his first two seasons in the league, so he has shown that he can be a real threat. The Blue Jackets certainly need him to be as productive as he is capable of. That is why they brought him in originally.
We will see how Laine does in his first 82-game season with the club. Keep in mind, he is still just 23-years-old, so he is very young and can even become better than his best days in the league.
