Report: Phillip Danault Is Heading To Market

According to Arpon Basu, the Montreal Canadiens are letting Phillip Danault head to free agency. With this, Danault will be one of the top centers available on the market. This should lead to a plethora of teams being interested in his services.

Interestingly though, Danault is coming off a bit of down year. In 53 games this season, he scored five goals and recorded 24 points. Those aren't necessarily bad totals, but they are noticeably lower than his previous two seasons with the team.

Yet, Danault would still receive a lot of praise this season because of his excellent defensive play. This aspect of his game would be instrumental during the Canadiens' fantastic playoff run. He constantly played against the best offensive players on opposing teams because of this. Therefore, even when he is struggling offensively, he is still noticeable because of his spectacular two-way play.

We will see where Danault ends up soon.
