Report: The Seattle Kraken Are Selecting Calgary Flames Captain
It is official. The Calgary Flames will be losing captain Mark Giordano to the Seattle Kraken, according to TSN's Salim Nadim Valji. It is the end of a magnificent era.
Even at 37-years-old, Giordano is still a very efficient top-four defenseman in this league. In 56 games this season, he scored nine goals and 26 points. That is still solid offensive production and that should be welcomed by the Kraken.BREAKING - I can confirm that the Seattle Kraken have chosen Calgary Flames captain Mark Giordano as their pick at the Expansion Draft, to be announced this evening.

At this stage, the Kraken's left side already looks very strong. It is known that they are expected to select Giordano, Vince Dunn and Jamie Oleksiak. It will be interesting to see what other left-handed defensemen they will be adding.
In 949 career games with the Flames, Giordano scored 143 goals and recorded 509 points. He also won the Norris Trophy as the league's best defenseman in the 2018-19 season. It's been a great ride for him in Calgary, but now it's time for him to make more magic with the Kraken. Overall, he's a very good pick by them.
