Report: Zach Hyman Agrees to Eight-Year Deal with Edmonton Oilers

Leafs Nation woke up today and were slapped in the face with some bad news. According to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet, the Edmonton Oilers and Zach Hyman have come to terms on an eight-year contract that pays him north of $40 million. The team is waiting for the Leafs to agree to the sign-and-trade to make it official.

Word is the Oilers will be sending a draft pick to the Leafs for letting Hyman be traded before July 28 and now the Leafs turn their attention to filling a massive hole at left-wing. Hyman received a ton of interest from a number of teams but nobody was willing to go to the boundaries of the Oilers.

Considering the Leafs wanted more killer instinct next season and their letting Hyman and Zach Bogosian walk, who were two forces for the team last season is certainly a head-scratcher. Leafs Nation now waits to see what tricks Kyle Dubas has up his sleeve.
