Rumor: Frederik Andersen Pricing Himself Out of Toronto

The Toronto Maple Leafs and goaltender Frederik Andersen have mutual interest in signing a contract, however by the sounds of it are very far apart when it comes to dollar amount.

Darren Dreger of TSN mentioned Andersen feels he may be worth more than $5 million, his salary from last season. The Maple Leafs have nowhere near to spend, so if he wants to stick around Toronto, Andersen is going to have to take a pay cut. The Leafs have some other holes to fill with the likes of Zach Hyman, Nick Foligno and Alex Galchenyuk all free agents.

Last season the 31-year-old Danish netminder battled a leg injury late in the season, lost his starting gig to Jack Campbell and finished the season with a .895 SV%. It's believed Andersen has made it known to Leafs general manager Kyle Dubas he's willing to share the duties with Campbell next season and beyond.

If it's not Toronto look for Andersen to draw interest from the Carolina Hurricanes, Colorado Avalanche, Vancouver Canucks, and Nashville Predators. The Canucks could lose Braden Holtby to the Seattle Kraken expansion draft and should be considered one of the favorites.
