Rumor: Montreal Canadiens to Offer Sheet Elias Pettersson

The Montreal Canadiens franchise could be making major changes on Wednesday and they won't have to do anything. The Seattle Kraken could potentially be taking their franchise goalie Carey Price off their hands during the expansion draft and if they do, rumor has them going hard after Elias Pettersson of the Vancouver Canucks.

Note that the Sabres are asking for the equivalent of 4 1sts for Jack Eichel. So this amount is viewed as the cheaper route for the Canadiens.

There's been a ton of speculation that an offer sheet was coming this summer due to the flat cap and the amount of talent available on the restricted free agent market. Is Pettersson and the Canadiens a possibility? We guess so, but it's certainly a touch unlikely at this point. And considering the type of transactions that have been going on in Vancouver lately, there's no chance they let 'Petey' walk do they?

We'll all find out more Wednesday afternoon when the Kraken select their players. If Price goes, keep your head a swivel for the counter move later this month.
