New York Rangers to Sign Latest Addition
The New York Rangers knew the Tampa Bay Lightning were in some serious financial troubles and they pounced on their opportunity to acquire forward Barclay Goodrow. Turns out a contract extension is coming next that will keep Goodrow in the Big Apple for the foreseeable future.

Not finalized. Expectation is Goodrow will be a Blueshirt once the signing moratorium is lifted with a 6-year deal in $3.6m AAV range. @DFOHockey
Goodrow has been nothing but lights out since arriving in Tampa Bay via the San Jose Sharks and a lot of people wondered why the Lightning gave up so much in the trade. After watching the Lightning win back-to-back Stanley Cups with the winger a big part of the team's checking line, they now have a better idea.
Barclay Goodrow, UFA rights traded to NYR, is a low-event bottom six forward who was kind of a "more than the sum of its parts" glue guy on a really good line. #NYR pic.twitter.com/ZOGREnVzNo

Last season the Aurora, Ontario native recorded 20 points in 55 games and another six points in 18 postseason games. The Rangers are getting someone who will chip in offensively but more importantly is sound defensively and is ruthless on the forecheck. Rangers head coach Gerard Gallant is going to love having Goodrow in his lineup.
