Rumor: One Seth Jones Trade Appears Lost

The Seth Jones sweepstakes are off and running as the Columbus Blue Jackets have received a ton of interest in their stud defenseman. One team that's come calling with some serious interest, the Philadelphia Flyers. While their offer may be legit, turns out they haven't been able to get Jones' buy-in on a long-term extension, which is halting the deal from getting completed.

The Seth Jones-to-Philadelphia discussions appear off, for now. The Flyers can’t get the commitment they want from Jones. That’s his right, to wait unless he’s certain, but Philly won’t make the deal without it.

The Flyers have a ton of young roster players to entice the Flyers including forwards Nolan Patrick, Morgan Frost, Joel Farabee and defenseman Phillipe Myers. As for Jones, he has one season remaining on his contract, paying him $5.4 million, meanwhile is looking for a hefty raise on his next contract extension. It's expected Jones signs a multi-year deal, north of $7.5 million a season.

Keep an eye on these two teams, as while talks appear to be off for now, the Flyers could easily circle back to try and get Jones to agree to a deal. Perhaps he's not a Philly cheesesteak guy?
