Rumor: Trade Coming From Seattle Kraken and New York Rangers
According to Mollie Walker of the NY Post, the Seattle Kraken will be acquiring Ryan Strome from the New York Rangers as a side deal to the expansion draft. Strome would be heading to the Kraken in exchange for defenseman Mark Giordano and ex-Rangers forward Colin Blackwell, who Seattle selected at the expansion draft.
Strome is a 28-year-old center who is capable of playing top-six minutes. Last season he recorded 49 points in 56 games and in 2019-20 he tallied 59 points in 70 games. With more minutes available in Seattle, there's a chance Strome takes his game to another level. He's in the final season of his contract, paying him $4.5 million.
As for the Rangers, they keep Blackwell after it's all said and done and add Giordano to their defense, who has one season left on his deal at $6.5 million. New York was desperate for some help on their left-side of the blueline and they have found a good one in 'Gio'. Expect the Rangers to be active as they are in the running for Jack Eichel, meanwhile the Kraken are just getting started...literally.
