Rumor: Two Teams Make Trade Offers for Sabres Ristolainen
The Buffalo Sabres have several players available for trade, however the one player generating the most interest appears to be defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen. Currently there appears to be a two team race according to TSN, which includes the Montreal Canadiens and Winnipeg Jets.
The Jets are potentially going to lose Dylan DeMelo to the Seattle Kraken and were already thin on the right side of the d-core, so adding Ristolainen makes sense. He would give the team their best option since Jacob Trouba and is someone who plays a similar style and is more offensive. Last season in Buffalo, the towering defenseman recorded 18 points in 49 games and has shown in the past he's capable of putting up 40-plus points in a season.
Montreal is losing Shea Weber for the foreseeable future with upcoming surgeries so they have a giant hole to fill on the right-side of the blueline. Ristolainen could provide everything they need, and at 26, and making $5.4 million, he could certainly find a home with the Canadiens.
Keep an eye on all three teams, as their going to be very busy over the course of the next two weeks. Buckle up NHL fans, it's going to be insane with all the movement!
