San Jose Sharks To Buyout Martin Jones
The San Jose Sharks are officially buying out goaltender Martin Jones, according to Pierre LeBrun. This is not very surprising, as this has been rumored to occur all off-season.
Jones is coming off his third straight season of having an .896 save percentage, so it does make sense that the Sharks are looking to make a change. Before the buyout, Jones had three years left on his current deal and it carried a $5.75 million contract. That was far too expensive for what he was providing the team, so this decision was ultimately a no-brainer to make.Sources tell @KKurzNHL and myself that the Sharks are placing Martin Jones on unconditional waivers today for purposes of a buyout

Now, the Sharks have to find a new goaltender this off-season. They already traded for Adin Hill, but bringing in another one for insurance would be smart. There are plenty of options available through free agency, so this will not be hard for them.
Maybe a team will give Jones a cheap contract as an unrestricted free agent. We will have to wait and see.
