The two bring a wealth of experience to the team as the Kraken are rounding out their coaching staff after hiring head coach Dave Hakstol. The freshly minted head coach knows both Leach and McFarland very well including spending time with the latter on the Toronto Maple Leafs bench.
We're very excited to add two talented hockey minds in Paul and Jay to our inaugural staff. Paul's work ethic and ability to communicate with players to give them the tools to be at their best, along with Jay's leadership and ability to coach and develop NHL talent, will be great additions to our team
McFarland is set up to run the power play and is known for a guru and one of the many reasons the Leafs power play stunk last season as he was back coaching in the OHL. In his one season in Toronto, he had the Leafs PP ranked 6th in the league.
Meanwhile Leach joins the Kraken bench after spending the past four seasons with the AHL's Providence Bruins, recording a 136-77-26 record, and never missing the playoffs. He's set to take on the defense.
