Seth Jones Traded to the Chicago Blackhawks
As we reported back over a month and a half ago, the Chicago Blackhawks are making it a family affair. The team first traded for defenseman Caleb Jones from the Edmonton Oilers and now will be adding Seth Jones from the Columbus Blue Jackets.
The Blackhawks were one of the teams Jones was willing to sign an extension with and they've now been able to sway Columbus off a trade of either Kirby Dach and Alex DeBrincat and are sending a package to the Blue Jackets which reportedly includes some other young players and draft picks.
Jones made it known to the Blue Jackets he was not willing to sign an extension with the team, which kick-started the trade process.
Jones has one year remaining on his deal with a $5.4-million cap hit. Chicago is expected to sign Jones to a long-term contract extension, Friedman added. Huge move for the Blackhawks as they look to make a big run next season.Friedman reports the Blackhawks and Jackets are working on a Seth Jones trade that now does NOT include Dach or DeBrincat but instead “another mix of Chicago’s young players, prospects and high draft picks.” https://t.co/Xqs9S1By5k

If the Blue Jackets acquire Adam Boqvist in a potential Seth Jones trade, it would be a pretty cool reunion #CBJ pic.twitter.com/Azj6FKt4R5
