Stars Trade Jason Dickinson To Vancouver

The Dallas Stars have traded centerman Jason Dickinson to the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for a third-round pick. Dickinson was likely going unprotected in the Seattle expansion draft next week and was a potential selection for the Kraken. Instead, Dallas now flips him for a draft pick rather than losing him for nothing.

The 26-year old Dickinson is a native of Guelph, Ontario. The 6'2" centre was drafted 29th overall in 2013 by the Stars and made his debut against the Colorado Avalanche in 2015-2016. He scored his first NHL goal less than 16 minutes into the game after heavy forechecking by Valeri Nichushkin caused Avs goaltender Calvin Pickard to bobble the puck behind his own net. Dickinson found himself wide open in front and put the puck home.

While he's never been a regular goal-scorer, Dickinson consistently scores ~8 goals a season, hovering around ~25pts a year throughout his career. He has also appeared in 40 playoff games, tallying up 5 goals and 9 points in that span. Last season for Dallas he scored 7 goals and 15 points in 51 games. Vancouver has found themselves a solid third- or fourth-line centre, and Dallas managed to recoup some assets for a player they may have been giving away for free just a few days from now.
