The Florida Panthers Have Re-Signed Sam Bennett
The Florida Panthers and Sam Bennett have agreed on a four-year extension. It will carry a cap hit of $4.4 million.
After being traded from the Calgary Flames to the Panthers at the deadline, Bennett took off. Originally a first-round pick, Bennett never could develop into the top-six center that many thought he would in Calgary. However, with Florida, it seems that he is quickly emerging into that. In 10 games with the Panthers, he had six goals and 15 points. He would follow that up with five points in five games during the postseason.Bennett deal with Florida: 4 x $4.4M AAV https://t.co/wIomV9UX2y

If Bennett can continue to play this well moving forward, the Panthers have gotten themselves a complete steal from Calgary. He should continue to play on their second-line behind Aleksander Barkov, as he seems to fill the role quite nicely. Yet, besides his offense, he will also continue to provide a strong level of tenaciousness, too.
The Panthers have checked off a big item from their off-season to-do list. Now it's time to focus their efforts on signing recently acquired RFA, Sam Reinhart.
