The Ottawa Senators And Vegas Golden Knights Strike A Deal
The Vegas Golden Knights have acquired Evgenii Dadonov from the Ottawa Senators in exchange for Nick Holden and a 2022 third-round pick.
TRADE ALERT: The #Sens have acquired defenceman Nick Holden and a third-round draft pick in 2022 (which originated with the @Canucks) from the @GoldenKnights in exchange for forward Evgenii Dadonov. pic.twitter.com/8ZdIv0OBjN
It was a down year for Dadonov. In 55 games, he scored 14 goals and only had 20 total points. It just did not work out with him in Ottawa, so he may benefit from a fresh start. Keep in mind, he just had scored 25 goals in 69 games the season before. He has two years left on his contract and it carries a $5 million cap hit.
Holden, on the hand, played in just 17 regular season games this season and had two assists. He had a productive postseason, though, as he had two goals and seven points in 15 games. The 34-year-old should be able to slot himself on the Senators' bottom-pair pretty easily. He has one year left on his contract and has a $1.7 million cap hit.
The Senators have gotten rid of an expensive contract, so expect them to bring in some new players today.
