The Seattle Kraken Are Expected To Sign This Winger
According to Elliotte Friedman, the Seattle Kraken are expected to sign Jaden Schwartz once free agency officially begins. He also stated that it was basically agreed upon when the Kraken were exclusively allowed to speak to pending free agents.
The Kraken have over $30 million of cap space after the Expansion Draft, so it is pretty easy to tell that they are planning to sign free agents. Schwartz will be a good addition for them if it becomes official, as he is a solid top-six forward when he is healthy.
This season was a bit of down one for him, though. In 40 games with the Blues, he had eight goals and 21 points. However, he also had 57 points in 71 games the season before, so he is absolutely capable of producing offense. He also can work on both the power play and penalty kill nicely because of his solid two-way play.
Schwartz has played his entire 10-year NHL career with the Blues. In 560 games with the team, he scored 154 goals and registered 385 total points.
Barring any sudden changes, it seems that Schwartz will officially be signing with Seattle on Wednesday. It will be interesting to see what his final contract turns out to be.
