The Tampa Bay Lightning Are Bringing Back An Old Friend

The Tampa Bay Lightning have signed defenseman Zach Bogosian to a three-year contract. It will come with an $850,000 cap hit. He previously played for the team, as he was a part of their 2020 Stanley Cup winning club.

This is honestly a bargain for the Lightning. Bogosian is a dependable bottom-six defenseman who plays the game with a lot of physicality. He spent this past season with the Toronto Maple Leafs and played pretty well, too. In 45 games, he had four assists, but was primarily there to be a defensive defenseman. He will play a similar role with the Lightning yet again.

The fact that they managed to get this 31-year-old defenseman on such a cheap contract is a big win for Tampa Bay. There is nothing risky about this contract at all.
