The Tampa Bay Lightning Have Their Backup Goalie
The Tampa Bay Lightning have signed goaltender Brian Elliott to a one-year, $900,000 contract. He will be their backup goalie for next season.
Elliott had a down year with the Philadelphia Flyers this season. In 30 games, he had a 15-9-2 record with an .889 save percentage. However, with Tampa Bay, he will have far less pressure on him, as he will be playing with Andrei Vasilevskiy. The 36-year-old will be hoping to win his first ever Stanley Cup.Hearing Brian Elliott is expected to join the #GoBolts as Andrew Vasilevskiy’s sidekick during a (potential) Olympic year. Sounds like a one-year deal in the $900k ballpark.@DFOHockey @Sportsnet

Overall, this is a low-risk signing that gives the Lightning their second goalie.
