The Vegas Golden Knights Are Bringing Back Alec Martinez

According to Frank Seravalli, the Vegas Golden Knights are re-signing Alec Martinez. The amount of the deal has not been released yet, but it's a three-year deal that should be around $5 million.

This is a huge signing for the Golden Knights, as Martinez was one of their most important players this past season. In 53 games, the 34-year-old had nine goals and 32 points. While being very productive offensively, he also provided very steady defensive play to go along with it. He can play in all situations, so Vegas should be thrilled to have him back.

However, they only have just over $5.2 million of cap space without the Martinez extension on their payroll yet. When seeing as how he could make over $5 million, it is apparent that they are going to have to clear up some cap space. Keep in mind, they have recently acquired RFA Nolan Patrick to re-sign, too. Perhaps they will end up moving one of their goalies or winger Reilly Smith.

Nonetheless, this is a fantastic move for the Golden Knights, as losing Martinez would have been awful for them.
