The Winnipeg Jets Have Re-Signed Paul Stastny

Well, it's time to cross off another center from the free agent list. The Winnipeg Jets have signed veteran Paul Stastny to a one-year, $3.75 million extension.

This is a good signing for the Jets. Even with Stastny being a bit older now, he is still a very solid NHLer and great leader. In 56 games this season, the 35-year-old center scored 13 goals and recorded 29 points in 56 games. He also is a player who can be utilized on both the penalty kill and power play, so him returning is beneficial for the team in multiple ways. It also doesn't hurt that his new contract is quite affordable.

This crosses off a big task from the Jets' to-do list this summer. There would have had trouble replacing a player like Stastny through the free agent market, so this is a real win.
