Toronto Maple Leafs And Boston Bruins Complete A Trade
The Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins have made a small deal. The Maple Leafs are sending the rights of prospect J.D. Greenway to the Bruins for future considerations. James' brother is Minnesota Wild's forward, Jordan Greenway.
The Maple Leafs drafted Greenway in the third round of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft with the 72nd overall pick. The 6'5" left-handed defenseman spent the first half of his collegiate career with the University of Wisconsin, but then joined the University of Maine. He is a defensive defenseman who plays with an edge, as evidenced by his 207 penalty minutes in 94 games between the two schools. He also had six goals and 25 points.
If the Bruins fail to sign him, he will be an unrestricted free agent. Although the 23-year-old may not be ready for the NHL yet, perhaps he could form into a bottom-pair defenseman in the future.
Nonetheless, it's always interesting when division rivals make trades, no matter the size.
