Tyler Bozak And The Blues Have A Deal Ready To Go

After appearing to be a shoo-in for free agency, it is being reported that Tyler Bozak has a 1-year deal on the table with the St. Louis Blues. The Saskatchewan native is coming off of a three-year contract with St. Louis that earned him an AAV of $5 million. The Blues have a modest amount of cap space to play with this summer, but the likely departures of Jaden Schwartz and Mike Hoffman are giving St. Louis more money to throw around for guys like Bozak.

Bozak has played 3 seasons for the Blues. scoring 31 goals and 84 points playing as their third-line centre. He added another 6 goals and 17 points in the playoffs with St. Louis, helping the team win its first-ever Stanley Cup in 2019. This was also Bozak's first Cup win.

The 35-year old went undrafted, and was signed by the Toronto Maple Leafs out of the University of Denver in 2009. He played 9 seasons with the Leafs before signing with St. Louis as a UFA. While never achieving star status, Bozak has averaged 40 points per season over his career, and has not shown signs of dropping off just yet. He has become a fan favourite in St. Louis, as has his father Mitch, who likes to appear during team pressers and poke fun at the coaches.
