Washington Capitals Veteran Goaltender Calling It A Career

According to Capitals' GM Brian MacLellan, goaltender Craig Anderson is going to retire this summer. This was his lone season with the Washington Capitals, and he was the third-string goalie. He played in four games and had a 2-1-0 record.

Anderson had a long career in the NHL, but had a bumpy road getting there. He was originally drafted by the Calgary Flames with the 77th pick of the 1999 NHL Entry Draft, but was not signed. However, he would get his chance yet again when he was taken 73rd overall by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.

Anderson would take some time to become a full-time NHLer, but it clearly paid off. He went on to play 652 games and had a 291-252-69 record with a .913 save percentage. He played for the Blackhawks, Florida Panthers, Colorado Avalanche, Ottawa Senators and Capitals. However, he is most remembered for his excellent tenure with the Senators. He also won the 2016-17 Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy. Overall, he had a very solid career.
