Video: Corey Perry Reveals His Intentions for Next Season
Veteran forward Corey Perry signed a one-year deal with the Montreal Canadiens to try and compete for a Stanley Cup, and sure enough it happened. Turns out next season Perry wants much of the same, as the pest informed the media on Friday, his intentions are to sign again with the Habs.
Perry mentioned he didn't get the full experience of being a part of the Canadiens as the building was never packed with fans to feed off of. He did go as far to say he's informed general manager Marc Bergevin he prefers to stay with the club than sign elsewhere this summer. Last season Perry was under contract for $750,000 and considering he's still being paid from the Anaheim Ducks and has made $88 million in his career, he's not doing it for the money.
A cool little tidbit about this Canadiens team is the fact they have a great mix of veterans and young talent. It's pretty funny to hear Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield go on about how Perry was their favorite player growing up and now their sometimes line mates.
#Habs Cole Caufield on Corey Perry: "he's unbelievable - he's a guy I really look up to. The other day Nick [Suzuki] and I were talking that he was our favourite player to watch growing up so it's just kinda crazy you get to be on the same team as him..."

Listen in as Perry discussed his future during his exit interview:
"There's definitely a bright future here in Montreal, and hopefully I'm part of that."

"Yes, I intend to play hockey next year. There's still a lot of good hockey left in me, and I would love to come back to experience Montreal for what it's like really being in Montreal."--Corey Perry
