Vitek Vanecek Is Back On The Move

Vitek Vanecek may have been taken by the Seattle Kraken in the Expansion Draft, but he will not be playing there. The Kraken have traded him back to the Washington Capitals for a 2023 second-round pick.

It is understandable as to why Seattle decided to move him. They just shockingly signed Philipp Grubauer earlier today, so they needed to trade a goalie. With Driedger just signing a deal with the Kraken, it had to be Vanecek.

As a 25-year-old rookie with the Caps this past season, Vanecek played very well and even became their starting goalie. In 37 total games, he had a 21-10-4 record to go along with a .908 save percentage. He should only improve from here if all goes according to plan.

The Capitals now have filled the hole they lost from losing Vanecek with, well, Vanecek.
