Winnipeg Jets Sign Veteran Forward

The Winnipeg Jets are adding some experience to their roster. They have signed forward Riley Nash to a one-year, $750,000 contract.

At this stage of his career, Nash is a reliable fourth-liner who can be utilized on the penalty kill. Although he will not provide the most offense, he can be effective when it comes to his defensive game. He also can play both at center and the wing, so he can also be moved around if needed.

Nash played 37 regular season games with the Columbus Blue Jackets this past season. In them, he scored two goals and recorded seven points. He also was traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs before the deadline, but did not suit up in any regular season games with them because of an injury. However, he did return for the postseason and played two games. He did not record a point in either contest.

In 578 career games, the Nash has 63 goals and 172 total points. At the end of the day, there is nothing wrong with bringing in a grizzled veteran on a cheap deal.
