2 Possible Landing Spots For Jimmy Vesey
After winning the Hobey Baker Award in 2016 with Harvard University, Jimmy Vesey had a lot of hype and was heavily sought out for as an unrestricted free agent. Now in 2021, the 28-year-old winger is without an NHL contract as we are nearing September. In 50 games last season between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Vancouver Canucks, he scored five goals and had 10 points. Although he never blossomed into the top-six forward many expected, he is a player who could be worth signing. It is never a bad thing to add depth upfront. Here are two teams who could give him a chance.
New Jersey Devils: The New Jersey Devils could look to sign Vesey as a potential bottom-six winger for them. They have made it rather clear that they are aiming to move past their rebuild with their busy off-season. They signed Dougie Hamilton, Tomas Tatar and Jonathan Bernier already. Could Vesey find his scoring touch again with a team like New Jersey? He could be given chances there when looking at their current forward group.
Los Angeles Kings: Vesey could find success with the Los Angeles Kings, too. Although the Kings have a deep prospect pool, they may benefit from adding him as a depth option. The Kings have some cap space left and could bring in Vesey if it is on a very cheap deal. It would give the Kings more options when it comes to their bottom-six, especially if some of their younger players do not seem ready for the NHL yet.
