3 Teams Who Could Give Free Agent Michael Dal Colle Another Chance
When the New York Islanders drafted winger Michael Dal Colle fifth overall in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, they thought that they were getting a star power forward. However, his tenure with the team just did not work out. In 111 games over four seasons with the Islanders, he scored eight goals and recorded 21 points. He never took off offensively like he did during days in the OHL. However, with the Islanders not sending him a qualifying offer, he now has the chance to have a fresh new start. Maybe playing on a new team will help him become an NHL regular, as he will have far less pressure. Here are three potential fits.
Buffalo Sabres: When looking at the Buffalo Sabres, it is clear that Dal Colle would have a chance of cracking their NHL roster. They are in the process of blowing their entire team up. They have already traded away Rasmus Ristolainen and Sam Reinhart, and Jack Eichel will also be soon. Dal Colle could fight for a spot in their bottom-six, as their forward depth is not strong in the slightest.
Seattle Kraken: The Seattle Kraken could be a nice destination for Dal Colle. They are still building their team and when looking at their forwards, he may be able to wiggle himself into their lineup. If not, he could potentially be a depth forward. Like we saw with the Vegas Golden Knights in their inaugural season, sometimes players who are struggling can turn their fortunes around on a new expansion team. Perhaps Dal Colle could do the same in Seattle.
Arizona Coyotes: Like the Sabres, the Arizona Coyotes are trading away a lot of their talent and may not be done yet. This seems like another organization who could allow Dal Colle more chances to play because of it. He also is still just 25-years-old, so he does fit into their rebuilding stage. The Coyotes are in a position where they can take a chance on Dal Colle, as they are going into next season with no expectations whatsoever.
