Arizona Coyotes Sign Depth Forward
The Arizona Coyotes have signed Travis Boyd to a one-year contract. It will carry a cap hit of $750,000.
Throughout his NHL career, Boyd has primarily been a depth forward. That does not make this signing bad in the slightest, though. In fact, Boyd has shown solid spurts of offense in the past. In 20 games with the Toronto Maple Leafs this past season, he scored three goals and recorded eight points. However, after being claimed on waivers by the Vancouver Canucks, he only scored two goals in 19 games. He also had 20 points in 53 games with the Washington Capitals in 2018-19.Congrats Travis Boyd on 1yr $750,000 contract with #Yotes! https://t.co/rTsfevMp0u

With Boyd joining a rebuilding team like the Coyotes, he should have a real shot of cracking the lineup with true regularity. He is a player who has the tools to be a decent scorer, but has yet to get that chance permanently. Hopefully the 27-year-old will now be able to in Arizona.
