Carolina Hurricanes: 2 Prospects Who Could Make The Team Next Season
Having a strong prospect pool is such an important thing, as it helps determine the future success of all NHL franchises. Although it is always nice to be competitive now, things changes rapidly and it truly is a young man's league. Therefore, it feels right to start a 32-team segment covering them. During it, we will be looking at two prospects from every NHL franchise who could become NHLers next season.
In this article, we will be looking at the Carolina Hurricanes. For a team that is so competitive, it does not hurt that they also have some very strong prospects in their system. These two could very well end up becoming NHL regulars this season. If they reach their potential, they will each be effective forwards for the team for years to come.
Ryan Suzuki C: Ryan Suzuki could get his first taste of NHL action next season. In 26 games this year with the Chicago Wolves, the 20-year-old center had five goals and 10 points. When seeing how well he performed in the OHL, there is a good chance that the Hurricanes will utilize him next season. The Hurricanes do have strong depth down the middle, but he could wiggle himself in their bottom-six. At a minimum, expect some brief call-ups when injury occurs.
Seth Jarvis RW: Viewed as the Hurricanes' top prospect by most, it would not be surprising to see Seth Jarvis get a chance with the team this season. In 24 games with the Portland Winterhawks of the WHL this season, he scored 15 goals and had 27 points. He also suited up in nine games with the Wolves and dominated the AHL. In them, he scored a notable seven goals and recorded 11 points. This type of offensive production in the minors should be enough for him to get at least a crack at the NHL next season. He is still just 19-years-old, so there is no rush for him to become a full-time NHLer. However, the kid may be ready.
